Final Reflection

To start, this course was recommended to me through my advisor, based on the fact that my major is social media communications.  Through the content of the course, I have gained a deeper understanding of how to create a website through word press and other things like creating a Wikipedia article. I also found a special interest in my digital literacy narrative and god to explore the world of podcasts. 

For example, through designing a website on Word Press I gained the experience of putting a website together and making it look professional and clean. I also really got a feel for how to craft blog posts.  I enjoyed using different tools on this website and adding different elements such as a drop-down menu. Although hard to understand at times, I can bring this skillset to my future job or even teach other start-up business owners how to start their very own website. 

Next, I would have to say my favorite assignment was “my digital literacy” assignment. I liked that I was able to reflect on my uses with technology. While reflecting, I really noticed how much of a difference growing up was from the way my parents growing up, not only that but it really opened my eyes to how my future children will experience technology while growing up. I always was able to get creative with this assignment. I love exploring new programs and using tools that I have. For example, I used Adobe Spark to create my voice over video with pictures from the internet and my personal pictures.  

Lastly, I explored new territory, podcasts. Podcasts are relatively new to me and I really don’t care for them. What I mean by that is that I am a very visual person so I would much rather sit down and watch a video than just listening it is sort of the same way with audible books, I can not listen to books I must physically read them. However, I did not mind creating my podcast. I really like the idea of contributing to the world of information, which is accurate. My topic was essential oils and I feel that there is a huge misconception surrounding the topic so I was able to express these concerns and more accurate information in my podcast. 

Overall, I really enjoyed using my creative skills and exploring different digital writing posts. I was able to explore different outlets such as creating a website and Wikipedia post. I also liked that I was able to use my creative imagination to bring my past into a video. And I was able to explore new territory with a podcast. All of these new skills will help me to gain a job and really do well with various tasks that may come my way. I look forward to taking what I learned and applying them to my future career.
